Project LEAP: Due to Winter Storm Nemo, Project LEAP (Lodge Excellence Assistance Program) has been postponed to March 3, 2013 at a new location, Camp Workcoeman (169 Camp Workcoeman Road, New Hartford, CT 06057). Registration is still open and available at http://www.ne‐2a.org. The cost of the event is $15, which includes program materials, lunch, and an event patch. Additional trading post items are available by pre‐sale only. LEAP is designed to support the six lodges of the Section in their efforts to improve their program and achieving Journey to Excellence (JTE) recognition. This event is intended for lodge officers, committee chairmen, chapter leadership, advisers, and any Arrowman who is interested in becoming active in the OA program. Training sessions will include: Brotherhood Conversion, Supporting your Council, Regalia, Conducting Service Projects and more! Join us for a day of training and fellowship.

Council of Chiefs Meeting: The next Council of Chiefs meeting will be held in conjunction with the Project LEAP event. Lodges should be prepared to report on their Conclave committee plans.

Journey to Excellence: Section NE‐2A has qualified for the Silver Level! Congratulations to the all lodges for working hard and helping the Section achieve the Silver Level.

Journey to Excellence Pins: Lodges that are certified as a Journey to Excellence (JTE) Lodge are eligible to purchase pins for youth and adult Arrowmen. The pins may be purchased for $1.50 each from the national OA office. There are three different pins, one for each level: Gold, Silver, and Bronze. All proceeds from the sale of the JTE Lodge pin will go to the Order of the Arrow’s Endowment Fund. The form is available here: http://www.oa‐bsa.org/resources/forms/2012jtelodgeorderform.pdf.

Legacy Project 2015: Lodge Rocks are due as soon as possible. The deadline for submission was December 31, 2012. Lodges should select a rock from their home council’s territory or council camp that will become a part of the Brotherhood fireplace at NOAC 2015. Please do not miss this opportunity! Legacy Project 2015 is part of the 100th Anniversary of the Order of the Arrow. Each lodge is responsible for four items: Lodge Rock (2012), Legacy Panel (2013), History Book (2014), and Centennial Bonfire (2015). Section Officer/Adviser Travels: Section Vice Chief Mitchell Heisler (participant) and Section Associate Adviser Dan O’Rourke (staff) attended the inaugural Northeast Region Train the Trainer on February 15‐17 at Camp Alpine, NJ. The training seminar prepares trainers to serve on the National Leadership Seminar Staff and train our future leaders.

National Leadership Seminar/National Lodge Advisers Training Seminar: The next opportunity to attend National Leadership Seminar (NLS) and National Lodge Advisers Training Seminar (NLATS) will be March 15‐17 (Camp Alpine, NJ). Advisers should encourage their youth officers and adult advisers to attend these training seminars.

Project 2013: Staff positions for the Order of the Arrow’s Project 2013 to support the National Scout Jamboree are still available. There are five different program areas to serve: Jamboree Trek Guide (lead Troops on a four mile hike to the top of the Garden Ground Mountain), OA Service Corps, Day of Service Guides (onsite service at the Summit or community service project), Indian Village, and Recreation. For more information about Project 2013, visit: http://event.oa‐bsa.org/events/jambo2013.

Scouts Helping Scouts: It is our goal that every lodge in Section NE‐2A will be making a donation to the Northeast Region’s Scouts Helping Scouts campaign. The campaign will support scout camps across the region that suffered damage caused by Hurricane Sandy. The region has nearly reached the $30,000 mark and has increased its fundraising goal from $20,000 to $25,000 to $30,000 to $35,000. The Northeast Region BSA has pledged a matching donation of $15,000. For more information, visit the Northeast Region webpage at http://northeast.oa‐bsa.org.

2013 Section NE‐2A Conclave: The theme for the 2013 Conclave at Camp Tri‐Mount Scout Reservation is “Keep the Fire Burning.” Half Moon Lodge has worked hard to develop plans for the weekend and plans to integrate the theme into the program as much as possible. Anthony Stoico will serve as Conclave Coordinator and he will be advised by Henry Frick.
