Council of Chiefs Meeting:

The Council of Chiefs meeting was held on Sunday, October 14th at Camp Sequassen in West Hartford, CT. The year is off to a good start! We plan to discuss Section business and begin planning the Conclave program.

Section Planbook:

The Section Officers have developed the 2012‐2013 Section Planbook as a resource for all lodges. The Planbook contains information about the Section, our Conclave, program, and resources.

2013 Section NE‐2A Conclave:

The theme for the 2013 Conclave at Camp Tri‐Mount Scout Reservation is “Keep the Fire Burning.” Half Moon Lodge has worked hard to develop plans for the weekend and plans to integrate the theme into the program as much as possible. Anthony Stoico will serve as Conclave Coordinator and he will be advised by Tony Van Duynhoven.

Scouts Helping Scouts:

Hurricane Sandy caused lots of damage all across the region and the Northeast Region leadership is leading an effort to help councils in need. Many camps across the region suffered severe damaged and some remain closed until further notice. The Region Key 3 is launching an aggressive fundraising campaign to raise money that will be awarded to lodges to help their councils to complete projects at their camps. The goal is to raise at least $20,000 with hopes to exceed that goal. The campaign is called Scouts Helping Scouts, because that’s what we are all about. For more information, visit the Northeast Region webpage at http://northeast.oa‐bsa.org.

Lodge Charter Renewal:

Lodge Charter Renewal packets were mailed to Council offices several weeks ago. As the end of the year approaches, lodges should be working on their annual charter renewal. Forms are due to the national office on December 31, 2012. Please help our Section by submitting your lodge renewal on time. Forms can be downloaded here: http://www.main.oa‐bsa.org/resources/forms/#lodge

Order of the Arrow Strategic Plan 2013‐2017:

The Strategic Plan for 2013 to 2017 was first presented at the 2012 National Order of the Arrow Conference during the National Council of Chiefs meeting. As the Order of the Arrow prepares to celebrate its centennial in 2015, lodges will strive to increase service to their councils and provide greater service to the young people who are the focus of our mission. The plan focuses on a Journey to Excellence and to complete a century of service. Read the plan at: http://www.main.oa‐bsa.org/programs/splan.
