Gathering of Leaders: The Section Officers, Advisers, and Conclave Coordinator attended the Northeast Region’s annual Gathering of Leaders on September 21‐23 at Camp Alpine. Time was spent setting goals, discussing plans for the year, and planning for the 2013 Conclave.
Council of Chiefs Meeting: The Council of Chiefs meeting will be held on Sunday, October 14th at Camp Sequassen in West Hartford, CT. We plan to discuss Section business and begin planning the Conclave program.
Guide to Inductions: The 2012 Revision of the Guide to Inductions is now available on the national OA webpage at http://www.oa‐bsa.org/resources/pubs/gti. The Guide to Inductions details the complete induction process, beginning with a scout’s Unit Election and ends with the Arrowman’s Brotherhood ceremony. The revision was a cover to cover revision and includes a lot of new information. Several new resources were added: Adult Candidate Nomination Form, Suggested Call‐Out Ceremony, Sample Letter to Elangomats, Elangomat Work Sheet, New Member Ordeal Experience Survey and updated text to the Spirit of the Arrow booklets.
National Bulletin: The September to November edition of the National Bulletin is now available at: http://www.oa‐bsa.org/bulletin. This issue includes new lodge tools, a report on the Philmont OA Adviser Training Conference, a fantastic NOAC 2012 photo spread, and much more!
National Leadership Seminar/National Lodge Advisers Training Seminar: The next opportunity to attend National Leadership Seminar (NLS) and National Lodge Advisers Training Seminar (NLATS) will be November2‐4 (Camp William B. Snyder, VA). Advisers should encourage their youth officers to attend this training.
OA High Adventure Forms: The 2013 registration forms for OA High Adventure are now available for download: http://www.oa‐bsa.org/resources/forms/#adventure.
Adult Unit Election Changes: The national Order of the Arrow committee has recently announced changes to the requirements for the nomination of adult unit Scouters to become candidates for induction into the Order. National Leadership Seminar Germany Patch: This November, the Northeast Region will be taking a team of trainers to Germany to conduct an NLS for the members of Black Eagle Lodge. The Region has produced a fundraiser patch to help make the trip more affordable. Patches are available for $10 each. Contact Mark Chilutti at Mark Chilutti chilutti2000@aol.com to place an order.
National Jamboree 2013 Staff: The “Green Bar Bill” Hillcourt Trust and the Order of the Arrow recently announced the William “Green Bar Bill” Hillcourt Scholarship to assist youth Arrowmen serving on Order of the Arrow Staff at the 2013 National Boy Scout Jamboree. Order of the Arrow Staff is considered to be: Jamboree Trek OA Guides, the OA Service Corps, the Day of Service OA Guides, and OA Indian Village. Recipients of the scholarship will receive a maximum of $250.00 applied toward the National Boy Scout Jamboree Staff fee.
