officers are outlined in Chapter 2 of the Field Operations Guide, available online at
http://oa‐bsa.org/resources/pubs/FOG‐2013b.pdf. All youth candidates for these offices
should be aware of the responsibilities and meet these eligibility requirements:
IV. Eligibility, Nomination, Selection of Officers and Appointees
A. All section officers must meet the following eligibility requirements:
1. A registered member, in good standing, of the Order of the Arrow and
the Boy Scouts of America in a council within the section who has the
approval, in writing and in advance of being nominated, of his council
Scout executive or council Scout executive’s designee. The member’s
council must be in good standing (renewed its OA charter) with the
national office.
2. Younger than 21 during his entire term of office.
Approval letters must be received by Section Adviser Bill Chin [bill@eaglewbc.com or 56
Lincoln Street, Trumbull, CT 06611] by 12:00 noon on Saturday, June 8th. Please note
that a letter that authorizes an Arrowman to run “for Section Chief” will not allow him
to run for Vice Chief or Secretary. A letter that approves an Arrowman to run for
“Section office” will allow him to run for any or all of the three offices.
Conclave Patch Auction: Dan O’Rourke is collecting items for the Conclave auction.
Please ask Arrowmen in your lodge and help solicit donations for the auction. The funds
raised help to fund the operations of the Section and the Conclave.
Lodge Trading Posts: Lodges will be permitted to sell merchandise from their lodge
trading post at the Section Conclave. Lodges selling items will be assessed a 10% sales
charge. Ex. If the lodge sells $100 worth of items, the Section earns $10. Please contact
Bill Chin in advance so that we can plan on having enough table space for your lodge
trading post items.
Section NE‐2A High Adventure Scholarships: The Section will be offering one High
Adventure scholarship to each lodge in the Section in the amount of $250. The Section
leadership strongly believes in the Order of the Arrow’s High Adventure programs and
we encourage every lodge to participate in these activities. The 2013 registration forms
for OA High Adventure are now available for download: http://www.oabsa.org/resources/forms/#adventure.
Scouts Helping Scouts: Nacha Nimat Lodge of the Hudson Valley Council was recently
awarded a $4,000 grant to replace a pavilion in Akela’s Den at Camp Bullowa.
Section Officer/Adviser Travels: Section Chief Tom Donlon was a guest at Nacha Nimat
Lodge’s Spring Ordeal Weekend at Camp Bullowa.
Field Operations Guide: An updated revision of the Field Operations Guide has been
released. The FOG is available online at http://oa‐bsa.org/resources/pubs/FOG‐
2013b.pdf.
Northeast Region OA Jamboree Patches: The Northeast Region has recently released
an OA patch for the National Jamboree. Patches are available for $3.50 each, minimum
order of 10. Lodges and Sections are encouraged to sell them for $5 and make a profit
to help benefit local programs. The patch has a loop, is suitable for uniform wear, is
fully embroidered, and made in the USA.
Project 2013: Staff positions for the Order of the Arrow’s Project 2013 to support the
National Scout Jamboree are still available. There are five different program areas to
