Conclave In Review

This year’s Section Conclave, which was serviced by Nacha Nimat Lodge, was held at Camp Nooteeming in Salt Point, New York. Over the weekend, scouts from all 6 lodges plus many guest participated in various training classes ranging from event planning to patch trading.  By participating in Conclave University classes, members had the opportunity to earn an Associates or Bachelor’s Degree.  Next year, the Section will be offering a Master’s degree to those scouts who show true commitment to the Section training.  Classes were taught by Section officers, volunteers, and guests.  Our Section was honored to have both the National Chief, Nick Dannemiller, and the National Vice Chief, Taylor Bobrow attend the Conclave, and contribute by teaching the “Centuries of Service” course.

The Conclave wasn’t just training classes.  The weekend was full of exciting events and competitions including human foosball, ultimate frisbee, tug of war, dodge ball, and many more. On Friday night, Owaneco won the golden cup which consisted of a series of Minute to Win It games. On Saturday evening, the lodges participated in the Big Event tested the strength, endurance and skills of the lodges.  After almost an hour and six challenges later, the service lodge, Nacha Nimat, took home the victory.

At the end of the weekend, the Section held its annual business meeting in which we talked about next year’s Conclave serviced by Tschitani Lodge at J.N. Webster Scout Reservation on June 19-21.  National Vice Chief, Taylor Bobrow, also carried out the Section Officer Elections. Neil Harris of Owaneco, was elected as the Section Chief, Nicholas Aubrey of Pocumtuc as Vice Chief, and Jon Hagenow of Tschitani as Secretary.
